The English tabloid ‘The Sun’ recently published a list of the 10 ‘biggest’ footballers of all times. Giants of the pitch like Ronaldo, Maradona and Adriano are indisputably featured in it. They certainly have great aptitude for the game, but their appetite seems to be even larger. Ok, by this time you must have already realised that it is not the mastery of Pelé’s art that we are talking about. Very good, hearty eaters, that’s what they all are. Here comes a countdown of the ‘Top 10 Fatballers’ according to the sensationalist newspaper:

10) Mark Bosnich, Australian goalkeeper
9) Mido, Egyptian striker
8) Adriano, Brazilian striker
7) Benni McCarthy, South-African striker
6) Nevilla Southall, Welsh goalkeeper
5) Paul Gascoigne, English midfielder
4) Neil Ruddock, English defender

And on the podium go...

3) Willie ‘Fatty’ Foulke, English goalkeeper
2) Maradona, Argentinian midfielder
1) Ronaldo, Brazilian striker

Earlier this year, Ronaldo took part in the Brazilian top-rated comedy show “CQC”. The (huge) Phenomenon promised that if Corinthians lost the 2010’s Brazilian Championship, he would hit the stage and let everyone into his well-kept secret: his weight. As it turned out, Fluminense won the competition and he had to honour his promise. The soccer star had the guts (and a vast stomach) to face the scales in a nationwide broadcast. Few moments before getting onto them, he asserted: “My weight doesn’t matter, since I don’t play any longer.” Much to everyone’s surprise, the needle revealed incredible 73kg (160 pounds). Chunky Ronaldo felt vindicated. Later on, however, he confessed on Twitter that the whole thing was a trick and the scale had been manipulated.
