We are the champions!!

At the very first time I mentioned the Blogject in this class, Diego came up with the idea of the post. Everybody laughed and approved it right away. So, we started to work, looking for funny pictures in the web and drafting the first sentences... What is amazing is that, the more we moved forward, the funnier it got. Every Friday somebody would bring new pictures and videos and as we opened them to select the best ones for the post, we had loads of fun!
On one of these funny Fridays, Rosane brought to class the brilliant idea of using the famous Che Guevara's sentence "Hay que endurecerse pero sin perder la ternura jamás" and we decided to use it for the title of the post. After the post was published, Rose started to comment on the other blogs of the Project in order to promote their post, and some of the students also published its link in blogs and sites about sports. After all, winning the prize was not just a matter of competition. It was a product of team work, some sweat, and a lot of good humour. I hope all the readers who commented on your post could have some of the fun we had while producing it.

Adriana, Camila, Cita, Diego, Paulini, Rayene, Rebeca, Rodrigo, Rosane, Rosilene and Zeni, I hope you have enjoyed doing the Blogject as much as I did. Congratulations for the excellent job!! And thanks for the unforgettably funny Friday mornings!

All the best,
Your proud teacher

They're ugly, but awesome footballers!

Brazil is very famous in the world because of football. Although we didn’t create the sport, we’re considered the country of football. Brazil is the biggest champion of World Cups, we won it 5 times! Also, Brazil played in all editions of the World Cup.

However, football is very famous around the world too. Everybody likes football, millions of people play and watch this sport and that’s why football is well-known.

Brazil has the best footballers but, unfortunately, some of them are really ugly. In fact, there aren’t ugly footballers only in Brazil.

Now look at the 5 ugliest footballers around the world in our opinion:

Ronaldinho Gaúcho (born 21 March 1980) is a Brazilian football player. He plays for Flamengo and Brazil national team. His teeth are horrible and his hair too. He is very ugly, but he is a good player. He won The Best Player of FIFA in 2004 and 2005.

Wayne Mark Rooney is an English footballer. He plays as a striker and he’s 26 years old. He plays for Manchester United. We think he’s a nice footballer, but his so ugly. He’s nickname is Shrek, because of the similarity. We think they’re so similar.

Mesut Özil is a footballer from Germany and comes from a Turkish family. He's 23 years old. He's a midfielder and plays for Real Madrid. We think he's very ugly and he has big eyes (this is his nickname), sometimes he looks scared.

Ribery is a French footballer .He's 28 years old .He plays for Bayern Munich and France National      Team. He won UEFA Cup in 2005 and 2006. He has a strange scar in his face but he’s a brilliant player.

Carlos Tevez is from Ciudadela, Argentina. He was born in February. He plays as a striker for Manchester City. We think he’s an awesome player but he’s very ugly.

Do you agree with us? Give your opinion in the comments!

World Cup 2014 - The Brazilian Way

In 2014 the World Cup will take place in Brazil, the country of football and the nation of partying.  However, people aren’t confident enough because Brazil is disorganized and has many social problems. The FIFA president has already criticized Brazilian plan of work and complained that “the World Cup is tomorrow and the Brazilians are thinking it’s the day after tomorrow”.

Not only deadlines seem to be a problem, but also how much everything is going to cost, specially when it comes to stadiums. Brazil will build 12 stadiums for the World Cup but these stadiums may not be used after the World Cup finishes to stage local matches. One example of this is the stadium in Manaus (a city with no football tradition at all) and as a consequence, there are no attendants and this stadium would be left to an expensive abandonment. The Maracana stadium is another big problem and proof of how disorganized the plans are. It is supposed to host the final and may not be ready until 2013. In addition, the project will cost an estimated 400 pounds million in total.

The Brazilian public transport needs urgent upgrades especially in the large cities that will host the World Cup, such as Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Brasília. We strongly agree that our public transport system is precarious, not safe and it does not meet the demand of the Brazilian people.

It is our belief that after the World Cup finishes, Brazilian people will take advantage of the improvements that will be made in the transport system. And, what about our streets? They are in bad conditions. Now that the World Cup is coming, the politicians are trying to improve them, with infrastructure works. Therefore Brazilians hope that the investment in the World Cup will have long-lasting effects on people’s lives.

To conclude, we think that the World Cup will bring many benefits for the population. However, as Pelé mentioned: “Brazil is running a huge risk of embarrassing itself in its handling of the World Cup. It has the obligation to host a successful event.” In other words, we don’t like the idea of having things rushed and keeping this reputation of doing everything at the last minute with the typical “Brazilian way”.

Is Brazil the country of volleyball?

Close your eyes ...
Imagine you’re playing for the Brazilian Volleyball team ... Now think about all the public screaming your name, because you have played a super match from the begging to the end.
It is the tiebreaker set and your team is from one point of winning the title disputed, then you score the last point of the game. Besides winning a cup, you give joy to the people from your country.

That's what usually happens in a volleyball game. We generally have matches that make you singing, jumping and twisting all the time.

The Brazilian volleyball has only given us happiness with all its grit and determination, while the football  have being disappointing.
The volleyball is the second favourite sport in Brazil, just behind of the football .
Brazil is one of the best countries at Volleyball. All the world is looking at Brazil, It's Growing to be the better at Volleyball.
Brazil has some titles.

In Masculine:
·  2 Olympic gold medals (1992 and 2004) and 2 silver medals (1984 and 2008)·   3 World Championship gold medals (2002, 2006 and 2010)·   2 World Cup gold medals (2003 and 2007)·   9 FIVB World League gold medals (1993, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010)

And in the Feminine:·  1 Olympic gold medal (2008) and 2 bronze medals (1996 and 2000)·  3 World Championship silver medals (1994, 2006 and 2010)·  8 FIVB World Grand Prix gold medals (1994, 1996, 1998, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009)· 1 Volleyball Grand Champions Cup gold medal (2005)

Brazilians who love FOOTBALL

Hello guys, pay attention!
Now, we will talk a little bit about something that most Brazilians love… Any idea???
 Yes, FOOTBALL!
In fact, we are going to explain what the Brazilian Championship is and we are also going to try to foresee what team will win this time – 2011.
The Brazilian Championship, also known as “Brasileirão”, is a soccer championship involving Brazilian clubs that has been disputed every year since 1959.

The tournament is organized by CBF (Confederação Brasileira de Futebol) and the winner, the runner-up as well as the third and fourth best teams at the end of the season are granted with the right to play Copa Libertadores.
However, predicting the winners in this edition of the championship is proving to be a hard task because the competition is coming to an end and the final result is still a mystery.
So, choose the team you think will win and cross your fingers!
Good luck!
Ops! Don't forget to vote for the best player this season!

Botafogo is one of the teams whose tradition is passed from father to son, and can be considered one of the oldest in Rio de Janeiro.
Its supporters and soccer players are said to be superstitious people.
The team has a lot of famous fans around the country, like Marcelo Adnet and Beth Carvalho.
Botafogo is the team that has more players called to defend the Brazilian National team: Garrincha, Didi, Nilton Santos, Túlio, Zagalo, to name but a few.
At the moment Botafogo struggles to win, despite having good players such as: Cortez, Jefferson and Elkerson.

The players are optimistic about the results but the coach, Luxemburgo, said “it isn't easy for anybody” showing he is not as optimistic as the players.

Fluminense has the capacity to win the Brazilian Championship because the team is comprised of good players, who are called “warriors” by their supporters.
Fluminense Football Club won the Brazilian Championship last year (2010) right after being almost relegated to the second division of the championship. Therefore, players are full of hope and determined to win.

In the homestretch of Brasileirão, Vasco da Gama is the team with the best performance so far, and despite having been shaken by the fact that their coach had had a stroke, the team is determined to win the championship.
Cristóvão Borges, who has been training the team while Ricardo Gomes is still under medical treatment, prepared a surprise to the players before the match in which Vasco would face Atlético-MG: he put Ricardo Gomes on the phone to speak with the players. They were very happy and motivated to do their best in the match, and as a consequence, it was very good, although some players got hurt.
Last but not least, the coach remembers:  Vasco is the team that had more injured players in the season, but this is not a problem, since players are motivated to win the championship in order to dedicate their victory to Ricardo Gomes.
Opponents, watch out!

Well, that's all for today!
We hope you liked it!
